Import a Hot Budget file

1. Press New Budget and choose Have this budget in Hot Budget (the Excel budgeting workbook)? (or go straight to Import).
2. Drop the job's saved .xlsb or .xlsx file in, or click to choose it.
3. Check what was found and how our totals compare with the file's, then press Import.

It brings in the sections and lines, the bid and the running budget, and the purchase order, payroll, petty cash and overage logs.

The file is read on your computer and never uploaded; only the budget built from it is saved. A large job file is fine.

Checked to the cent

Actuals are never copied from the file. They are worked out from the imported logs, the way Hot Budget does, so the preview can show the file's own figure next to ours for the grand totals and every section. Differences warn rather than block: you can Import anyway and fix them by hand, and they are noted in the budget's history.

If it says the file is the blank Hot Budget program file, open your job in Hot Budget, save it, and upload the saved file.
